Daily Thoughts from Jean Vanier - 5/21/09

Just a few Sundays ago I was sitting in a pew a couple of rows ahead of one of the L’Arche members during an Easter service. When it came to the part of the story where Mary discovered that the tomb was empty, I heard what sounded like a quiet "Humm?" coming from behind me, and when the angel announced, "He is not here—he is risen," the same voice let out a fully audible "Wow!"

At first I was nothing more than a little amused, but as the service continued I found myself reflecting on how infrequently I experience a sense of wonder or astonishment. It was a kind of awakening.
